Sodapop and Ponyboy Playlist

Posted: May 8, 2010 in music, playlists, random, rock n roll, running journal

The modern-day mix tape is dead to me.  I find myself thinking of playlists on a COMPLETELY different level than I did when everything had to fit into the rationed time of the CD I was burning, and I’m not even going to mention cassette (so as not to date myself.)  I don’t know how much time I would spend contemplating what song would get the axe in order to cut the length of play time for the perfect playlist.  Well, screw that.  Let’s just go with the wanton ideology that quantity IS quality when it comes to music!

With an MP3 in hand, in car, in dock… I am pretty much listening to music ALL day.  Shuffle rules the roost when I’m all by my lonesome, but with different friends and functions you need different atmosphere music.  Different strokes for different folks.  So I have devised a new plan for the playlists I force-feed down my friends throats… 60-100 track playlists.  I know, I’m sorry guys.  I’m forceful, I’m much too musically snobbish, and above all, I’m vocal about why I love the music I love.  But it’s fun right??? 🙂

In a social setting of a few hours and no limitations,  I have created a two for one system that I love!  Being an avid runner, and an audiophile, I usually set up 10-20 high tempo or lyrically interesting songs at the beginning of every playlist to listen to during my workouts… and then in a social situation I put the whole list on shuffle instead.

So without further ado, I present the Sodapop and Ponyboy playlist… because I’ve always been captivated by ‘the Oldies’.  AND YES I KNOW THESE ARE NOT ALL SONGS FROM THE 50’s, but it’s MY playlist, so shut it.
