Halloween Party Playlist

Posted: October 8, 2009 in music, playlists, reviews

I know some of these are a stretch, but I don’t care… it’s MY playlist. In general, I was going for a kid friendly doowop sort of feel. I’ll try and list my reasoning if the song seems CRAZY outta place.

‘Hell’ – Squirrel Nut Zippers
‘Thriller’ – Michael Jackson
‘This is Halloween’ – Nightmare Before Christmas ST
‘People are Strange’ – the Doors
‘Somebody’s Watching Me’ – Rockwell
(my kids think this song is hilarious)
‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’ – CDB
‘I Put a Spell on You’ – Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
(and I also put the CCR version – cause it’s good)
‘The Purple People Eater’ – Sheb Wooley
‘Monster Mash’ – Bobby Pickett
‘Down in Mexico’ and ‘Charlie Brown’ – the Coasters
(Down in Mexico sounds good, has nothing to do with Halloween)
‘Evil’ – Baboon
(because we know the boys in the band)
‘I Know What I Am’ – Band of Skulls
(band name is Halloweenish atleast)
‘Dancing w Myself’ – Billy Idol
(because it would not be a Sara playlist w/out this song and because the video has zombie fans!)
‘Strange Times’ and ‘Psychotic Girl’ – the Black Keys
‘You Never Can Tell’ and ‘Johnny B Goode’ – Chuck Berry
(cause I loved these when I was a kid, doowopy)
‘Strange Brew’ – Cream
‘Nemesis’ – Shriekback
‘Lullaby’ – the Cure
‘Mercy’ – Duffy
‘Crocodile Rock’ – Elton John
‘Take Me Out’ – Franz Ferdinand
(my kids are obsessed with this song – because of the following video)
‘I’m Tore Down’ – Freddie King
(cause I like the blues)
The Passenger – Iggy Pop
(because Iggy Pop is scary)
‘Friends Like You, Who Needs Friends’ – Rushmore ST
(because Rushmore is HILARIOUS! And it sounds like a funeral march)
‘Feelin’ Good’ – Muse
(good cover of Nina)
‘Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)’ – the Rolling Stones
(cause the name of the album is ‘Goats Head Soup’ hehehe)
‘Lil’ Red Riding Hood’ – Sam Sham and the Pharaohs
‘Cupid’ – Sam Cooke
(playlist veteran)
‘Superstition’ – Stevie Wonder
‘Psycho Killer’, ‘Slippery People’, ‘Life During Wartime’, and ‘Swamp’ – Talking Heads
(I’m fanatical over them)
‘Werewolves of London’ – Warren Zevon
‘Seven Nation Army’ – the White Stripes
‘Rockin’ Robin’ – Bobby Day
‘Rock Lobster’ – B-52’s
(cause it’s insane…literally)
‘Clap for the Wolfman’ – The Guess Who
Ghostbusters Theme Song
‘Great Balls of Fire’ – Jerry Lee Lewis
‘Scary Monsters and Superfreaks’ – David Bowie
‘Black Magic Woman’ – Santana
‘Boris the Spider’ – the Who

‘Alley Oop’ – Hollywood Argyles
‘Woo Hoo’ – 5678s
‘Don’t You Just Know’ – Huey ‘Piano’ Smith
‘She Bop’ – Cyndi Lauper
‘House of the Rising Sun’ – The Animals
‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me’ – Jackie Wilson
(ghostbusters 2 statue of liberty song!)
‘Do You Love Me’ – The Contours
(cause it’s fun)
‘Witchy Woman’ – the Eagles
(cause Amanda’s a witch and the Eagles reminds me of her dad)
‘Black Magic Woman’ – Santana
‘Love Potion Number 9’ – The Clovers
‘I’m Your Boogie Man’ – KC and the Sunshine Band
‘What’s New Scooby Doo’
(for my sweet boys)
‘Soul Man’ – Sam and Dave
(cause it’s awesome)
